Baglietto launches first hybrid T52 model

The first model in Baglietto's T52 line has hit the water at the Italian shipyard in a private ceremony held earlier this week.

Known as hull 10238, the 52-metre model is the first of eight units already sold in one of Baglietto's most successful lines to date. The T52 is the flagship of the shipyard's sporty T-Line series and was commissioned by a European owner with delivery in time for the Mediterranean cruising season.

The first hull is fitted with a hybrid propulsion system that will allow the owner to opt in and out of more efficient cruising modes to minimise consumption and the yacht's environmental impact. When cruising in electrical diesel mode, the T52 can reach a range of up to 7,600 nautical miles and remain at anchor for up to 10 hours relying on the batteries alone. Under traditional navigation, with two MTU 16V2000M86 engines, she can reach a maximum speed of 17 knots and a range of 3,600 nautical miles.

Francesco Paszkowski is responsible for the sub-500GT design which reinterprets classic design elements of Baglietto's traditional steel displacement yachts. For example, the new line features a restyled stern and open beach club across three levels, connecting the swim platform to the aft deck lounge to a main deck swimming pool with a floor that can be raised to create more room for entertaining guests.

This connection to the water is seen throughout the design concept. On the upper deck, wide floor-to-ceiling windows open on three sides to create an all-weather dining and social space, while a 24-metre-long sundeck is unmatched on a vessel of this size, according to the shipyard.

Speaking on the new launch, Baglietto's CCO Fabio Ermetto said: "This is a very much awaited-for moment. Seeing one of our vessels touch the water is always incredibly exciting for us, but when this happens with the first one in a new line, the excitement is even greater." He added that the choice of the hybrid propulsion system represented "a crucial step" in the shipyard's path towards sustainability.

According to BOATPro, there are five T52 models currently under construction at the shipyard, along with three units in its successful DOM 133 series.
